    Be Proud!

Came across this post "Taxicab Driver From Hell" in one of the forums from www.pinoysg.com, written by a Filipno worker in Singapore who just had to share his terrible experience.  Read on...

    By Raphael

Last tuesday, after office I came to this taxicab parked and waiting for passengers in front of our office building in Sembawang, I was carrying an old computer which I won in a bidding because the company is disposing some of their old but still in working condition P.C.'s. When I opened the taxi door, The driver's opening remark when I load the unit into his Cab was: "That is an old Computer."  I answered,"Yes, I got it from the company, they auctioned it. I bought it for 90 dollars" Realizing I'm not a Singaporean by my accent, then he said: "Ah, Singaporeans will not buy that one. Only guys from Indonesia,Myanmar, India... and Philippines-From 3rd world countries its a great buy for them...You know,Singaporeans will buy the latest, flat screen one"(Throughout our conversation,he repeated several times the term,"3rd world countries" I'm sure, It is one of his favourite  derogatory phrases to insult somebody like me.) I explained to him, "I bought it only for my kid..." there was a pause then, after about 2 minutes, he asked me: " Are you work permit or P.R.(Permanent Resident)?"  "I'm a P.R." "Filipinos will not get citizenship, right?"  "I think some will, if they apply...or maybe the next generations, their children who grow up here may choose to become Singaporeans...they may not want to go back to Philippines because they may have no friends there, after all, they will grow up here." with a snarling face, he said: "They will not go back there!, Ah, everything is baddd in Philippines!, the Government...bad education, the people...it's like that in 3rd world countries!..." Then I said,"The only bad thing in the Philippines is the politics."
Then He continued: "In Philippines, people get 1 dollar a day from working tsk, tsk...that's why they come here to work." I corrected him,"About 5 US dollars a day, the minimum" I added.."They come here to work and when they got back home, they buy land, properties" He replied again sneering"What land? farm land? You can only buy farm land just to plant rice-the way in 3rd world countries!hah!" a brief pause after this...then I said, "Filipinos are hard working you know?, maids here, some even work freelance in their day offs...You know some maids here are college graduates in the Philippines." Then with a loud roar he almost shout,"That is what I am saying! The education in Philippines is Baddd! They are college graduates but here, they are maids! and... they work part time in Orchard Towers!" (As we all know here in Singapore, Orchard Towers has a notorious"red-light"reputation).Then he continued,"And I know some are Architects in Philippines but here, they are only draughtsmen! Engineers there, but here they are Site inspectors!" (I am a draughtsman here myself and graduated with a degree in Architecture in my country and I will never accept the accusation of this guy that someone like me is badly educated.) By his last statement, I want to reply calmly but he cut me off: "Filipinos are different..."  Another roar from his mouth,"what are you Filipinos? special kind of people Bahh!"(To my surprise,he repeated this statement twice, further irritates me..I really want to punch him straight in the face but, I still controlled my temper)..This time, I quickly copied his displayed name and taxi number...  because of our heated conversation, I have not noticed I already passed by my block and we have to return back. When I asked him to return me back because we are already going in a wrong direction he bluntly said in singlish: " ayoow!, You're staying here, you don't know your house ah!" When I finally arrive at my block, I quickly unload the P.C., paid him and I said " You're a Racist" I shut the taxi door and heard him said "Racist?, HUH!" then he sped away.

I have to write the above terrible experience of mine because Up to now, I can still hear in my head his insulting remarks against me and my countrymen.By the way, I already reported him to his company and according to them, they will going to do investigation upon this ill-mannered taxi driver.

This post got quite a number of responses from fellow Filipinos in Singapore but one particular response from member Bono caught my attention:

Let's imagine the entire world, waking up one day to discover Filipinos have disappeared.

    1. Almost all the servers are not functioning because the Filipino Admins are not around.
    2. Websites are down because Filipino Programmers, web designers, managers are not around.
    3. There are not much nurses in the hospitals.....most people die, especially in the Emergency Room.
    4. Babies and children are crying, families are hungry , their house is dirty because their Filipino Maids are not around. Old people fall down because their Filipino caregivers are not there to help them.
    5. Call centers are down.....nobody can help you with your problems.you solve it by yourself..
    6. President Bush is hungry because the Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford is not around, a Filipina. "You won't like him when he is hungry"
    7. Hotels and hospitals are dirty because there is less people to clean and manage them.
    8. Nobody to help you in your shopping because there are very less sales ladies/clerks.
    9. Cargo ships and tourist ships stop sailing because there are no Filipino seamen and crew to man the ships.
    10. Bars are silent because the Filipino bands are not playing.
    11. Plays and musicals are having problems casting people with good voices. Miss Saigon is closed....
    12. Fast food chains are not as fast anymore.....
    13. Buildings are not built as fast as before, there are less engineers, architects and draftsmen.
    14. Your car will be delayed in fixing because the Filipino mechanic is not there.
    15. Oil fields stop pumping oil in the Middle East because the Filipino engineers, mechanics and workers are not around.
    16. Semiconductor companies stop producing electronic chips because there are no engineers and operators.....
    17. Cartoons stop making shows because the Filipino animators, pencilers and artists are not around.
    18. News is late.. because the Filipino newscaster and reporter is not around....
    19. Marvel and DC Comics are having a hard time releasing comics because the Filipino artists like Whilce Portacio is not around.
    20. Internet is put to a standstill, banks stop their transactions....

The United Nations have an emergency meeting and they are very worried, that there are no Filipinos....."Where the heck are the Filipinos! We need them! We cannot replace them!!!! We are doomed!!!"
and George Bush shouts" You are darn right! I have not have my breakfast yet!"

Just imagine the impact we have to the world. 8 million OFW strong force... Be proud to be a Filipino. Don't let a few people let you down with their own opinions, it is their right......Be a good example to other people Just look at the bright side.....and be happy.

and by the way... pahabol.. Pussycat Dolls is not as hot without Nicole Scherzinger (half Filipino) . Dontcha think?

I can't be any more proud to be a Filipino :)

    Signs

    Gemini & Sagittarius

Gemini & Sagittarius:  When Gemini and Sagittarius come together, it can be a truly spectacular match! These partners are highly compatible and although the pair will encounter trouble spots in the relationship, they are often able to work out differences. Sagittarius is an explorer and a pioneer, and Gemini's intellectual approach adds a different dimension to the pair's experiences. Both partners enjoy new sensations. Gemini is more than a little bit flighty and Sagittarius is always looking at everything but what's right in front of them. Gemini and Sagittarius make very good friends as well as lovers. They understand each other, and both view life with optimism and enthusiasm. Problems are rare, but sometimes Sagittarius must be careful to think before they speak and say something too blunt or hurtful. But even when they do have problems, these partners can forgive and forget easily. Both can get over arguments quickly, and neither hold grudges. Gemini is ruled by Mercury and Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Mercury's androgyny and Jupiter's masculinity make these signs compatible. Jupiter is about philosophy, instructing, and understanding, so Sagittarius likes to understand new and exciting things. Mercury is all about quick wit and invention. Whenever Gemini comes up with a new idea -- as they so often do -- Sagittarius is eager to explore with their partner and learn about this new concept. Gemini is an Air Sign and Sagittarius is a Fire Sign. This partnership has lots of action! There is always something going on, and this tends to be a very heated and passionate relationship. When it's good it's good, but when it's bad it's about loud quarrels and wounded feelings due to the polarity of these signs. In this partnership there's sometimes a competitive undertone and a question of who's taking charge. Both signs have excess energy. Although they may disagree often, their differences of opinion don't last long -- Gemini is too busy moving on to the next challenge to hold a grudge, and Sagittarius can forgive anything but a lack of respect from their Gemini partner. Gemini and Sagittarius are both Mutable Signs, thus extremely compatible. When these partners work together, they will easily come to agreements about who gets to take the credit for a specific achievement. Both will enjoy the recognition, and both are happy to be in the background too. These signs need alit of mental and physical stimulation but if Gemini gets bored with a project, Sagittarius might move on a bit later so they can learn all they want to know from the experience. The best aspect of a Gemini-Sagittarius relationship is their mutual interest in cultivating knowledge, utilizing intellect and turning it into action. They are well matched in their enthusiasm, energy, and drive.

Need i say more? haha ;-)

    Take little steps...
and you can hold my hand along the way.

    23rd of May, 2007

Last Song Syndrome.. haha. Can't help it! *smiles*

    All my life
Without a doubt i give you
    All my life
Now and forever till the day i die
    You and i will share

All the things this changing world can offer
    So i sing
I'd be happy just to stay this way
    Spend each day  with you

    There was a time
That i just thought that I would lose my mind
You came along and then the sun did shine
    We started on our way
I do recall that every moment spent was wasted time
But then i chose to lay it on the line

    I put the past away
    I put the past away
    I put the past away

    All my life
    I will carry you through
    All my life
Between each hour of the passing days
    I will stay with you

    There was a time
That i just thought  that i would lose my mind
You came along and then the sun did shine
    We started on our way
I do recall that every moment spent was wasted time
Then i chose to lay it on the line

I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I want this all my life
I wanted this all my life

    5 Rules

Remember these five simple rules to be happy:

    Free your heart from hatred.
    Free your mind from worries.
    Live simply.
    Give more.
    Expect less.

No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

    I heart u Ah Cheng :)
